Cindy,

Thanks for your comment. To be fair, your disagreement is with only part of the sentence, and if you continue to read the remainder of the sentence, you see that I acknowledge that it "sure seems that they are" part of the family. The grief my family feels over the loss of a long-time friend is very real. I am not denying the attachment that many have with their pets.

There is a real danger with placing the value of animals on the same level as the value of humans. I too love animals. They are a beautiful part of the creation and should be valued; however, from the very beginning God placed man and woman over the creation to rule as king and queen over all He had created. One of the ploys of Satan is that he came to Eve as a serpent (a beast of the field) and convinced her that she should submit to the words of the very thing that God Himself told the man and woman to rule over.

I see your point about companionship, which is very important, humans need interaction, even if it is with the created beast. But, the point of the whole blog was that we become so involved with our lives that we lose sight of the fact that life itself is fleeting and there is no time to wait to prepare for eternity.

The point of whether animals are part of our family is minimal. My family will miss Nebo, but the more tragic concern is that there are people dying to spend eternity seperated from God.

As an animal lover, I disagree with your statement that "dogs aren't really a part of the family". We were not blessed with children but God did bless us with 4 little dogs that are like children to us. We feed them and take care of them, just as we would if they were human. For a large majority of folks in this community, especially the elderly, dogs and/or cats are the only companionship they have.

Mike that was awesome. It is so true. Instead of focusing on the load we need to focus on the load bearer. God is really working on me in this area.

You are so right, Pastor. So many times we just want to be spoon fed and then go away "full" but really not nourished. For me, nourishment comes when I open His Word and ask Him to reveal what I need to know right now from Him. I also love opening up e-sword and studying the words in Greek or Hebrew and my faith deepens as I begin to understand even more what He is saying to me. Something else I am doing more than I have in the past is Scripture memorization. I cannot tell you how many times God brings to my mind a verse I have recently learned during a particular event or feeling I am having. He is so good to use His Word to continually teach me.

As I spend time with Him in His Word, I find my love deepen for Him and then, out of my love for Him, comes service. My desire is to glorify Him.

Thanks for this post. I have some of those books. Maybe I'll dust one or two of them off and read them again.

Great post, Pastor.

Our Lord tells us that the righteous will live by faith. I'm so glad that our righteousness is our Lord's.

In faith, it can be difficult to make a stand when so many of your friends are asking you to make another stand. But, God is always present. He sees us through.

We must all step out in faith when our Lord says GO. We must listen and watch for HIS leading.

I am so glad God has given our church YOU as our shepherd.

Praise God and thank you for allowing Him to truly be seen out there in the world in which our families have to survive. My prayer is that everyone who is involved will step up, hear God, and follow His lead. Knowing that will be very difficult to do and can only be done through the power of God, who offers it abundantly. I am proud to call you pastor and pray daily for each one in your sweet family.
