Volunteer

Kitchen
We serve weekly meals on Wednesday nights. Serving on the kitchen team involves helping prepare the meal and clean up. There may be special events that the kitchen team serves as well.

Bible Study/Sunday School
Working in this important area of ministry may be as a volunteer in Children’s Church, nursery, teaming with a teacher as a helper, or maybe even teaching a class. There are ways to serve in both children and adult areas.

First Impressions
Our First Impressions teams has greeters both inside and outside. Some help bring in coffee and donuts on Sunday morning. Some greet at the Welcome Center during Sunday Bible Study. Some greet in the sanctuary for Worship. Others help greet in the parking lot helping people from their cars.

Sanctuary Decorations
This team helps keep the sanctuary decorated for different times of year. They also help decorate for special events and with the Mission House.

Properties
Our properties team helps make sure the church campus is maintained by identifying needs and helping to get them resolved, like lights out, HVAC issues, plumbing issues, and helping to make sure everything is working properly.

There are many other areas to serve and we can help you find just the right place.

Men’s Ministries

The Men’s Ministry of Hurt Road Baptist Church is a ministry designed to strengthen the faith of the men in our church and to encourage them in their walk with the Lord.  It is also a ministry that is designed to be an inclusive outreach ministry where other men in our community can be reached, befriended, and have an opportunity to hear the Gospel and be led to a saving faith in Christ.  This ministry includes quarterly men’s prayer breakfasts, twice per year golf outings, church hosted dinners and other special events, group trips to various men’s conferences, and special missions projects carried out by the Brothers in Christ missions group.  The men’s ministry focuses on

1) Fellowship – through regular gatherings of men of all ages in a relaxed setting where they can share burdens, give encouragement to one another, and develop lasting friendships through their mutual faith in Christ.

2) Discipleship – through prayer, Bible study, and intentional mentoring,

3) Community Service  – through participation in local and regional relief projects and programs such as disaster relief, and relief projects for the hurting and homeless.

4) Missions Education and Participation – through participation in Georgia Baptist Mission Board training and projects, North American Mission Board mission projects, and International Mission Board projects and trips.

Women’s Ministries

The Women’s Ministry of Hurt Road Baptist Church is a place where women grow and thrive in their relationship with God and one another. A place designed to help women connect through serving our community, missions education, Bible studies, retreats and events. Come find your place with us.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are it the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

Women on Mission

WoM meets the first Tuesday of each month at 12:00 noon. Through Women on Mission, women:

  • Learn about missions in North America and around the World
  • Pray for the nations to hear of God’s love and for the missionaries who serve Him
  • Support giving to missions offering and through the Cooperative Program
  • Do missions by sharing Christ with others
  • Develop spiritually through a missions lifestyle

Loving Hands Quilters

A group of area quilters meet at the church the last Saturday of the month (every other month). This is a time to make new friends and learn how to make quilts, knit, crochet and many other stitching disciplines.

Please contact Terri Conner for the current schedule at tlcquilter75@gmail.com.

Patti Barnett, a longtime member of HRBC organized the group in 2016. Ms. Barnett started an initiative to crochet bedrolls (and now making them on peg looms as well) made from plastic shopping bags and distribute these bedrolls to homeless individuals in the Smyrna/Marietta/Atlanta area.

Every year, around 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide. 500,000,000,000. Five hundred followed by nine zeros. That’s a lot of bags.

The Women on Mission (WoM) group has been the biggest driver in this initiative. Ms. Barnett says, “Making these mats is not hard to do at all. It just takes commitment. Each mat requires about 1200 bags, but with so many people helping, it really isn’t as daunting as it sounds.”
